Seasonal thoughts from the students at Eastbrook School
At the end of each school term we hold a non-uniform day where our students pay a £1 to wear their own clothes to school for the day. Many students take this as an opportunity to have fun and dress up.
The money raised this December will be paying for Christmas presents for 20 children from Cockermouth and Keswick who have lost everything in the recent floods. Our school council voted to contact two schools and ask the teachers what the children would like.

Poetry Please
On National Peotry Day this year our school poetry competition was won by a year 11 student who in the following poem reminds us at this time of year of the people we miss, but also the strength shown by young people.
Daddy' Little Girl
There he is, again at the back of my head
He walked out the door and remember the last words he said
Keep your head high
Please don't cry
Forever with you till the day I die.
The memories we had will always stay in my heart
But I'll never forget the day it fell apart
Always there when I was growing up
Love, protect and treating me with respect.
Now I'm all grown up
But still looking up and 'wishing on a star'
And wondering where you are
I've come too far.
I don't know you no more
Because you walked out that door
And left me to pick up the pieces
But everything just fell apart
And breaking mum's heart.
MY life is now on a high
I feel like I can touch the sky
I feel like I have won the race
I'm in a different place.
No one can touch me
I feel so free
I used to be back there
And now I am here.
I stand tall
I stand strong
Like nothing can go wrong
My mind has changed
I can no longer play those games.
Now we have all moved on
We're in the light
With sun shining bright
With the wind in our hair
And the freshness in the air.
But still...
There he is, again at the back of my head
He walked out the door and remember the last words he said
Keep your head high
Please don't cry
Forever with you till the day I die.
And forever and always
Daddy's little girl.
